Congratulations, Karen Rees, Constituent of the Week!
on Tuesday, February 16, 2016
From Representative Ruth Ann Gaines:
"I selected Karen Rees as my Constituent of the Week because she is dedicated to the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion Programs. Both programs serve a special group of people - children and the elderly. Many foster grandparents help kids in classrooms that are overcrowded or in need of a teaching aide. Senior companions help provide companionship and assistance to citizens who often cannot get out of their homes. My mother had a senior companion near the end of her life who was caring, helpful and entertaining.
Karen Rees is the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Director in Polk County for Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa. Karen has worked with FGP since July 2008. She has 30 years of experience in Early Childhood centers as a teacher and a director. She holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Child Development from DMACC. She is an Iowa native living on the east side since 1985, with memberships in the Union Park Neighborhood Association and Center for Social Ministry. She is also the Chairperson for the Iowa State Association for Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Program Directors."
Congratulations, Karen, on this honor! We are so proud to have you at HCI-VNS of Iowa!
